Happy Thanksgiving!
This month and next will be special holiday editions of 8 Good Things. The format will be a little different, and hopefully, still as inspiring.
I do not know about you, though for me, despite Covid, and in some ways because of it, there is still plenty to be thankful for this year. I am so grateful to be outside of my pandemic bubble. I am grateful that I have finally seen my family in person and traveling internationally again. I am grateful that I can hug those I care about without feeling apprehensive. I am grateful that nearby parks are fully open and filled with people enjoying nature. I am grateful that strangers seem kinder, many offering a smile as they pass by. I am grateful that folks are lingering over conversations, being less hurried and caught up in their world. I am grateful to each and every 8GT reader. You inspire me to keep publishing this newsletter. Mostly, I am grateful to feel so alive and excited about what is around the next bend. I hope you are too.
Many blessings to you and yours.

8 Good Thanksgiving Quotes
“For each new morning with its light, for rest and shelter of the night, for health and food, for love and friends, for everything Thy goodness sends.”
“In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.”
“For the laughter of the children, for my own life breath, for the abundance of food on this table, for the ones who prepared this sumptuous feast, for the roof over our heads, the clothes on our backs, for our health, and our wealth of blessings, for this opportunity to celebrate with family and friends, for the freedom to pray these words without fear, in any language, in any faith, in this great country, whose landscape is as vast and beautiful as her inhabitants. Thank you, God, for giving us all these. Amen.”
“Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the changes, to remember that we, too, grow and change from one season of life to another. Thanksgiving is a time of changing seasons when leaves turn golden in autumn’s wake, and apples are crisp in the first chill breezes of fall. Let us remember the true meaning of Thanksgiving. As we see the beauty of autumn, let us acknowledge the many blessings which are ours, let us think of our families and friends, and let us give thanks in our hearts.”
“Reflect upon your present blessings — of which every man has many — not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”
“Got no checkbooks, got no banks, still I’d like to express my thanks. I got the sun in the morning and the moon at night.”
“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.”
“If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, ‘Thank You,’ that would suffice.”

Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve | Earth Lodge | South Africa One Night Complimentary Through December 19th, 2022
I am recently back from visiting this lodge. This private game reserve is a place I had heard of for quite some time. I had done a limited series for Discovery’s Animal Planet in the general area of Sabi Sabi. The show followed three former Navy SEALS and a Green Beret who taught rangers in the Greater Kruger Area anti-poaching strategies. While I was near Sabi Sabi, I never made it to this lodge. So fantastic that I finally got to see it. And guess what? 2019 prices are being held through December 19th, 2022.

Singita Pamushana Lodge | Zimbabwe | Special Offer January 6th – June 30th + September to December 14th, 2022
I could quite happily exist here for a while and did on a recent trip to Africa. While you are enjoying the breathtaking scenery, know that this lodge’s conservation objective is to restore and sustain the historic biodiversity of its Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve. They pride themselves on using a scientific approach to conservation with an on-site research team. Their vision is to create best practices that other conservation efforts throughout the world can use.

Duba Plains | Great Plains Conservation | Botswana Choose Your Dates | Inquire About Cost
A perfect place to rest between game drives or gaze at the millions of stars at night. Lunch with an endless view of the African bush is always a soothing break from our urban world. Duba Plains is set on an 81,000-acre private reserve. One guest perfectly described their experience here when they said, “I am not a religious person, but I now understand that the Garden of Eden can, in fact, be found at Duba Plains.”

Zarafa | Great Plains Conservation | Botswana Choose Your Dates | Inquire About Cost
One of the most heavenly places to wake up, listening to the distant sounds of hippos taking their morning bath. Followed by your own shower, where you will want to bring your camera. I felt so peaceful watching the animals splash around in the nearby river as I lathered up. It brought showering in the bush to another level. Being so exposed to the environment made me feel like I was one with nature. I found that Zarafa offers a sublimely intimate experience with the wildlife here. Zarafa means “the lovely one” in Arabic. Truly this word defines the camp here.

Duba Plains Explorers Camp | Great Plains Conservation Botswana | Choose Your Dates | Inquire About Cost
The old-world explorers inspired this camp. Here you feel as if you could be pulling up a chair to have a gin and tonic and a bit of a chat with Dr. David Livingstone as you watch the wildlife outside your tent. This camp feels so intimate and magical and a million miles away from civilization. Maybe that is because Duba Plains Explorers Camp sits on an island surrounded by the pristine Okavango Delta on an 81,540-acre private reserve in the heart of Botswana’s northern floodplains. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place.

Every three weeks, we bring you eight big ideas to help you live better.
Each edition selects topics that reflect The Sojourn Experience’s desire to serve the greater good, both inwardly and outwardly. We are a conscious-centered company with three portfolio brands. The first is Picture Happiness, which focuses on the art and science of happiness and mindfulness. The second is Sojourn Explorers, which curates transformational travel experiences to extraordinary places around the globe. Part of the money for each trip goes to nonprofit organizations we support. Sojourn Media looks to create partnerships with writers, producers, and directors to sell their projects to production companies and various platforms.
